The ME Shipbuilding Gantry Crane is built to lift very large ship parts. It is used in shipyards where strong, stable, and wide-span lifting is needed. It handles ship blocks, turns them in the air, and helps put them together. This makes shipbuilding faster and more precise.

HENAN HENGYUAN’s newly commissioned 450t ultra-wide span shipbuilding gantry crane is now in operation. It is used for lifting large sections of ships and offshore structures. This crane combines lifting, transporting, mid-air turning, and assembly of sections. It enables efficient, precise, and safe handling and installation of ship blocks. Key details:
01 The main beam has a trapezoidal structure. The legs include one I-shaped rigid leg and one A-shaped flexible leg. Operators and maintenance staff can reach the cabin and the top of the main beam via stairs or an elevator inside the rigid leg.
02 The hoisting mechanism is equipped with a rope alignment device to prevent wire rope slippage and ensure safety during lifting.
03 The travel mechanism includes a skew correction device. It can automatically or manually correct deviations during movement.
04 The intelligent control system supports multi-hook synchronized operation. Together with PLC and frequency control, it enables millimeter-level positioning.

Shipbuilding Gantry Cranes
HENAN HENGYUAN shipbuilding gantry cranes are known for their high lifting capacity, wide span, and great height. They are mainly used for turning and assembling ship sections in mid-air. These cranes usually have two trolleys—upper and lower—each running on its own track. The lower trolley can pass under the upper one. By coordinating the hooks of both trolleys and their travel mechanisms, the crane can easily turn ship sections in the air.

Shipbuilding gantry cranes are specialized equipment used in shipyards for lifting and turning large ship sections. They offer very high lifting capacity, wide span, and great height. Their rated load usually starts from 100t and can reach up to 2500t. The span often exceeds 40m and can be as wide as 230m. The height under the main girder can range from 40m to 100m.


Due to the large span, one leg is typically rigid (fixed to the beam) and the other is flexible (connected via a flexible hinge). The main girder can be single or double. Based on shipbuilding requirements, these cranes can perform single lifts, dual-hook or triple-hook lifting, mid-air turning, and fine positioning—especially suitable for section assembly and turning.


They are usually equipped with upper and lower trolleys. Each trolley moves on its own track, and the lower one can pass under the upper. The upper trolley has two hoists located outside the main girder. They can work together or separately, allowing dual-hook lifting and rotation. Both hooks have traverse mechanisms for fine adjustment and rotation, enabling accurate positioning during assembly. The lower trolley has a main and an auxiliary hook.
