ME Shipbuilding Gantry Crane – Heavy Lifting for Shipyards
The ME Shipbuilding Gantry Crane is built to lift very large ship parts. It is used in shipyards where strong, stable, and wide-span lifting is needed. It handles ship blocks, turns them in the air, and helps put them together. This makes shipbuilding faster and more precise.
Product Features
Lifts very heavy loads. Offers wide span and high lifting height.
Supports single-hook, double-hook, and triple-hook lifting.
Equipped with two trolleys. The top and bottom trolleys run on separate tracks. The bottom trolley can pass under the top one.
Includes side-shifting devices for accurate placement of ship sections.
Features alignment correction systems to keep the crane moving straight and operating safely.
Main Features
Lifting Functions
Supports single or multiple hooks for various tasks.
Can rotate ship sections in the air and move them sideways.
Top and bottom trolleys work without interfering with each other.
Suitable for lifting single or multiple parts at once.
Strong Structure
Uses a trapezoid-shaped main beam.
One leg is straight (I-shaped), the other is angled (A-shaped).
Staff can access the cabin and main beam via stairs or elevator inside the leg.
Available in single or double girder configuration.
Built with high-strength steel for long service life.
Sturdy frame improves stability and reduces sway.
Safe Operation
Anti-wind devices such as clamps and anchors keep the crane secure.
Real-time monitoring system checks crane status during operation.
Safety features include anti-collision sensors, wind speed alarms, and fire alerts.
Energy Efficiency
Some models use 10KV high-voltage power to reduce energy consumption.
Dual rails on one side help lower wheel load and save cost.
Easy Maintenance and Operation
Automatic positioning with high accuracy.
Small jib crane on the leg assists maintenance.
Trolleys can pass each other, useful for complex lifting tasks.
HENAN HENGYUAN’s newly commissioned 450t ultra-wide span shipbuilding gantry crane is now in operation. It is used for lifting large sections of ships and offshore structures. This crane combines lifting, transporting, mid-air turning, and assembly of sections. It enables efficient, precise, and safe handling and installation of ship blocks. It is a key equipment for improving productivity in shipbuilding.
Key details:
01 The main beam has a trapezoidal structure. The legs include one I-shaped rigid leg and one A-shaped flexible leg. Operators and maintenance staff can reach the cabin and the top of the main beam via stairs or an elevator inside the rigid leg.
02 The hoisting mechanism is equipped with a rope alignment device to prevent wire rope slippage and ensure safety during lifting.
03 The travel mechanism includes a skew correction device. It can automatically or manually correct deviations during movement.
04 The intelligent control system supports multi-hook synchronized operation. Together with PLC and frequency control, it enables millimeter-level positioning.
05 Safety systems include real-time monitoring, electronic anti-collision, wind resistance devices, and fire alarms—all ensuring safe and reliable operation.
Shipbuilding Gantry Cranes
HENAN HENGYUAN shipbuilding gantry cranes are known for their high lifting capacity, wide span, and great height. They are mainly used for turning and assembling ship sections in mid-air. These cranes usually have two trolleys—upper and lower—each running on its own track. The lower trolley can pass under the upper one. By coordinating the hooks of both trolleys and their travel mechanisms, the crane can easily turn ship sections in the air.
Key Characteristics:
Shipbuilding gantry cranes are specialized equipment used in shipyards for lifting and turning large ship sections. They offer very high lifting capacity, wide span, and great height. Their rated load usually starts from 100t and can reach up to 2500t. The span often exceeds 40m and can be as wide as 230m. The height under the main girder can range from 40m to 100m.
Due to the large span, one leg is typically rigid (fixed to the beam) and the other is flexible (connected via a flexible hinge). The main girder can be single or double. Based on shipbuilding requirements, these cranes can perform single lifts, dual-hook or triple-hook lifting, mid-air turning, and fine positioning—especially suitable for section assembly and turning.
They are usually equipped with upper and lower trolleys. Each trolley moves on its own track, and the lower one can pass under the upper. The upper trolley has two hoists located outside the main girder. They can work together or separately, allowing dual-hook lifting and rotation. Both hooks have traverse mechanisms for fine adjustment and rotation, enabling accurate positioning during assembly. The lower trolley has a main and an auxiliary hook. The main hook can work alone or together with the upper trolley’s hooks for triple-hook lifting and turning. The auxiliary hook is used for lighter loads.
Why Use ME Shipbuilding Gantry Crane
✔ Lifts very heavy loads. Ideal for building ship hulls and moving large parts.
✔ Works well in strong wind and rain. Its strong frame stays stable.
✔ Moves very accurately. This reduces mistakes.
✔ Saves energy. It can send power back to help lower costs.
Best Use Cases
Moves ship parts such as ribs and steel plates from storage to the assembly area.
Works across long docks. It does not get in the way of other work.
Lifts large blocks quickly. This means less waiting.
Shipbuilding gantry cranes are used in many situations:
Lifting and turning ship sections
They carry ship parts in the air, turn them, and put them together. The upper and lower trolleys work together to turn and position sections accurately. This makes ship assembly faster and more precise.
Moving large ship modules
They carry heavy parts like big modules, thrusters, and cabins. They meet the need for lifting heavy and wide objects in shipbuilding.
Working in dry docks and on berths
They are installed in dry docks, on berths, or platforms. They provide lifting support both vertically and horizontally. They suit different ship types and building methods.
Ship repair and modification
During repair or changes, they help move and replace ship structures and equipment. This improves efficiency and safety.
Building offshore equipment
They are used for lifting and assembling ocean engineering equipment. Examples include drilling platforms and wind power units. They meet the need for moving large parts in offshore projects.
Shipbuilding gantry cranes can lift very heavy loads. They have long spans and great height. They are multi-functional. They are essential in shipbuilding and offshore engineering.
In shipbuilding, these cranes are mainly used to assemble and move parts. They carry components to the berth. This makes shipbuilding more flexible and efficient.
A 400t-105m shipbuilding gantry crane is used in dry docks and on assembly platforms. It lifts steel sections. It can lift, carry, and turn sections in the air.
The design considers the project location, weather, humidity, wind, and water conditions. Advanced methods meet the user’s high standards.
This product was assembled and fully tested in the factory. It has now passed operational trials. During testing, the 400t crane successfully lifted 500t. It completed a test load of 1.25 times its capacity.
The company reported to international inspection experts. They shared details on design, production, and performance tests. The product received unanimous approval for its high quality and accurate technical specifications.
